Established in 1981 as a charter operation servicing the mining industry, Hinterland Aviation Pty Ltd was acquired by retail travel firm Trailfinders in 1992 and developed a firm footing in the tourism charter industry.

Hinterland Aviation Pty Ltd has developed considerably in recent times and now operates general charters throughout northern Australia, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. Hinterland Aviation Pty Ltd is proud to be the charter operators to the Voyages Resorts on Dunk and Lizard Islands.

The Hinterland fleet includes a 14-seat, pressurised, turbine powered Beechcraft King Air aircraft, high speed, long range executive and utility models with 5 to 12 seat capacity, and four 13 passenger Cessna Caravan aircraft capable of operating into unsealed runways, making them suited to remote locations.

Hinterland Aero Engineering Pty Ltd was established in 1995 to support the expanding Hinterland fleet and to deliver quality maintenance to the aviation industry. The company delivers a comprehensive range of aircraft maintenance, engine repairs and overhauls, avionics installations and component maintenance.

Hinterland Aviation‘s large and state-of-the-art hangar based at Cairns International Airport boasts capacity for aircraft up to 5700kg MTOW. The facility is fully-equipped for scheduled maintenance, major overhaul, repair and modifications of pressurised, non-pressurised, turboprop and piston engine aircraft.
