Background

The CASC is a purpose-built aviation training centre of excellence offering internationally-recognised aircraft maintenance qualifications.

Opened in March 2004 and located at Cairns International Airport, CASC features three large classrooms, a conference centre, library, computer lab, an instructor’s preparation room, two offices, a dining room, a spacious lobby and reception area. CASC also maintains a hangar for practical training which houses a Cessna 402B.

CASC’s leading partner Aviation Australia is a world-class aviation training provider established and wholly-owned by the Queensland Government.

Aviation Australia is the accredited training organisation operating at the Cairns Aviation Skills Centre. It is the only EASA Part 147 and ISO 9001:2000 accredited Registered Training Organisation in Australia, and is now the leading aviation technical training centre in the Asia Pacific region.

The CASC was built to meet a growing demand from local industry to provide training for engineers and apprentices in the region. CASC’s signature course is the Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Mechanical) and the centre has the capacity to deliver most Aviation Australia approved courses. CASC recently successfully administered AME licensing exams which will continue to run in conjunction with LAME licensing night courses.

National Jet, Surveillance Australia, and Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regularly utilise this state-of-the-art training facility. The centre is recognised by wider industry as an ideal conference and meeting centre with regular clients including the Cairns Port Authority, Education Queensland, and Australian Customs.
