The Queensland Government is committed to growing vibrant aviation and aerospace industries in the Smart State. Cairns is well on the way to becoming the aviation hub for northern Australia, and for good reason.
With its close proximity to Asia and the Pacific Rim, a rapidly growing international airport, expanding aircraft maintenance facilities and over 50 businesses providing aviation support, there is no doubt Cairns is a vital part of the State’s aviation infrastructure.
Queensland Aviation Strategy
The Queensland Aviation Strategy indicates how the Queensland Government will support this important sector to:
attract and establish new aviation industry capabilities in Queensland- enhance the training and skills capability in aviation
- achieve a high level of aviation exports and overseas business
The strategy will also:
- promote route development of regional, domestic and international commercial air services
- support the growth of aviation tourism
- ensure access to air services in rural and remote areas of Queensland
- support the development of rural and remote airports
